Raumarchitecturen (Auf Kalt-Warm) meaning Space Architectures (In Cold-Warm) from 1915 is a complex semi-abstract watercolor-landscape that reflects Klee's full maturation in his art that took place during the Great Wear.
The painting portrays a series of playful cubistic squares of 'joyful color' fusing the constructive principles of Cubism with the color theory of Delaunay, to create a new, simple but articulate language representing Nature in abstract terms. As a harmonious tapestry of abstract form and color, this painting, for Klee, represented a desire to escape from the trauma of the times.
